Ingredients

For the filling

  • 2 cups mashed sweet potatoes (about 2 medium, cooked and peeled) Ensure the sweet potatoes are well-cooked and mashed for a smooth filling.
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon For added flavor, sprinkle some extra cinnamon on top when serving.
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 pinch salt

For the pie crust

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the mashed sweet potatoes, condensed milk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and salt. Beat until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie crust and smooth the top.

Baking

  • Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the center is set and a knife inserted comes out clean.
  • Let cool completely before slicing, and for the best texture, chill for 2 hours.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use brown sugar instead of white sugar, if desired. Consider adding chopped pecans or walnuts for a crunchy texture. You can also add chocolate chips or coconut flakes for a twist on the classic recipe.
