Ingredients
  

For the trifle layers

  • 1 box vanilla pudding mix (instant)
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 container whipped topping (8 oz / 225 g)
  • 1 prepared pound cake or sponge cake, cubed
  • 3 bananas, sliced Use fresh, ripe bananas for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor.
  • 1 cup crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1/2 cup chocolate syrup
  • Maraschino cherries for topping
  • Chopped nuts (optional) Sprinkle on top just before serving for added crunch.

Preparation

  • In a bowl, whisk the pudding mix with cold milk until it thickens. Fold in half of the whipped topping.
  • In a trifle bowl or glass dish, layer half of the cake cubes on the bottom.
  • Add half of the pudding mixture over the cake.
  • Layer half of the sliced bananas, strawberries, and pineapple next.
  • Drizzle with chocolate syrup.
  • Repeat all layers once more for a colorful display.
  • Top with the remaining whipped topping.
  • Garnish with Maraschino cherries, extra chocolate syrup, and chopped nuts if desired.
  • Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Serving

  • Use a large spoon to scoop portions into bowls, allowing the beautiful layers to show. Garnish each serving with additional fruit or a drizzle of chocolate syrup for an extra touch.

Storage

  • To store leftovers, cover the dish with plastic wrap or transfer it to an airtight container. Keep it in the refrigerator, where it will stay fresh for about 2-3 days.

Notes

You can prepare it a day before and refrigerate it. Just add the toppings before serving. You can substitute the pound cake with ladyfingers or cookies for a different texture. Consider adding different fruits like blueberries or raspberries for a variation.
